Caitlin is a side character in The Bright Sessions and The Infinite Noise, where she is a classmate of Caleb and Adam at their high school, and a main character in The College Tapes, where she is Adam's roommate and best friend at Yale.

Biography[]

Caitlin was a childhood friend of Caleb Michaels and attended the same schools as him and Adam Hayes up until college. Because of this, we can assume that lived in Boston for most if not all of her early life. During high school she was best friends with a girl named Jessica and played on the school's field hockey team. She was also a member of the debate team, frequently being paired up with Adam to work on debate prep. She asked out Caleb Michaels and attended the school's Sadie Hawkins dance her junior year, but no longer held romantic feelings for him after he got into a fight at the dance. Though she and Adam competed for the title, she graduated as the school's valedictorian.

For college she attended Yale University, where she studied law. Her senior year she lived in an apartment with Adam Hayes, who was also attending Yale. It was during her senior year that she found out about atypicals and began looking into and investigating things in the atypical world.

Abilities[]

Caitlin has no known atypical abilities.

Appearance[]

The only canonical aspect of Caitlin's appearance is that in The Infinite Noise, she is described as having long hair. It is popular fan interpretation that Caitlin is Korean, given that her voice actress is East Asian and that the surname Park is common amongst Korean families.

Relationships[]

Adam Hayes[]

Caitlin and Adam were friends and classmates in high school. While their relationship was initially strained on Adam's part, she made an effort to reach out to him during junior year and eventually got on good terms. They were both on the debate team together and made smalltalk while doing debate prep, bonding over their love for academia and struggle to make friends. They briefly grew apart after the debate had finished and Adam began devoting his time to Caleb, but reconciled towards the start of senior year.

As of The College Tapes they appear to be close if not best friends. They are living together in an apartment and are on very good terms, despite the occasional disagreement. She cares deeply about him, and is more than willing to be blunt in order to say what he needs to hear.

Caleb Michaels[]

(Warning: This section contains spoilers for The College Tapes.)

Caleb and Caitlin were childhood friends before the events of the series and they were friends and classmate in high school, though they had grown apart since childhood. Near the beginning of their junior year, she had a crush on him and asked him to the school's Sadie Hawkins dance, where he got into a fight with another student who was behaving creepily towards her. After the incident, she no longer felt romantic feelings towards him, but they remained friends. She harbored no jealousy towards Adam once he began dating Caleb, and actually considers them a good match for each other.

They attended separate colleges but presumably remained in contact through Adam. After Adam and Caleb's break-up, the two fell out of touch, but were still on good terms; they are very excited to see each other upon reuniting in The College Tapes.

After Adam and Caleb began investigating the atypical mystery going on at Yale, the two tell Caitlin about atypicals. They do this by showing her how Caleb's empathy works. Later, after realizing that she felt strangely chipper at the arrival of Caleb and his friends, she confronts him and they both discover that he had inadvertently been using his ability to influence her emotions. He apologizes for this and she tells him that she is going to need to take some time to learn how to trust him again, but that she doesn't want to let it ruin their friendship for good.
